The Dakota RoughRiders are the Cowboy
Action Shooters of the Bismarck/Mandan Rifle Pistol Association.
Our home range is located outside of Moffit, ND; near the Capital
City
of North Dakota (Bismarck). We enjoy the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting.
This is one of the fastest growing shooting sports in the World.
There are shooting groups such as ours throughout the USA, Australia,
New
Zealand, Canada, UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, and the Czech
Republic.
In Cowboy action shooting, guns of the Old West (single action revolvers,
lever action rifles, and shotguns) are used to complete the shooting
scenarios. These scenarios are timed with penalties for missed targets.
The targets are large and generally made of steel. the idea is to
hear
BANG ...CLANGand have a bunch of FUN.
Visit the SASS
Web Site for more information on Cowboy Action Shooting
(CAS).
We are a newly formed group that began two years ago. The founding
cowboys, Vern "Heck Catcher Hoggarth, Blackwater Bill, RoughRider Jim
Bob, Brewster Cogburn, Joe Coe, Dennis Kroh, and Yellowstone Vic, began
meeting at the local truck stop and planning our "outfit". We've been
joined by a group of dedicated cowboys that we refer to as "the committee".
Team work is the only way we can make it.
We've recently become a Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) affiliated
club. Our Territorial Governor is a great cowboy called by RoughRider
Jim Bob.
Come, visit us, and enjoy an afternoon of shooting competition that's
make for the entire family. If you don't have guns, we'll help ya out.
All you need is a SMILE!
